Starr’s Mill Thespians perform in the spring musical, ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ Under the direction of drama teacher Savahna Silvas, the show earned the Showstopper award at the 2018 Shuler Award competition. The show also earned nominations for choreography and costume design. Four students from the musical were chosen to audition for the opening act at ThesCon 2019. After four years at Starr's Mill, Silvas will move to Texas so that her husband can continue researching a cure for COVID-19.
Drama teacher Savahna Silvas made major long-term changes to the theater program in her four years at Starr’s Mill. She influenced many students, and will leave a lasting impact on the school and community as she relocates to Texas due to her husband’s work with COVID-19. We are sad to see Silvas go, but happy to welcome Lauren Kuykendall as our new drama teacher.
