Club sponsor Cheryl Clower helped her Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members prepare teacher dinner boxes for the Mama Mia fundraising event on Feb. 16. The annual event consisted of an Italian dinner held in Clowers’ room which was decorated to resemble an authentic restaurant. The doors opened at 5:30 p.m.

Starr’s Mill’s French club, Le Cercle Français, participates in The Bloom Closet charity organization for the third year in a row. There are three clothing donation collection boxes placed around the school: one by the attendance office, another in front of French room 656, and the third in the Starr’s Mill front office. Donations began on Nov. 28 and ends on Dec. 16.

On Nov. 3, Starr’s Mill responded to a bomb threat that was later deemed a hoax. The note was first posted on Snapchat and later found in one of the school computer labs around fourth period. The student has been identified with the help of school administration and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Adolf Freitag plays cards with his niece when she arrives home from college. A number of the scenes that occurred in Adolf’s house revolved around the staircase set piece that was constructed by Starr’s Mill Productions co-president Darril Bill and volunteer set designer Steve Rambeck. In the days leading up to opening curtain, members of the Advanced Drama II class also helped paint the staircase.

The hallway in the front office displays more than 15 previous athletic accomplishments awarded to the Mill. The location for the hall of fame is being pushed back two years. This delay will allow enough time for an official hall of fame committee to be formed. The committee will be responsible for nominating future inductees and setting a definite location for the display.

The primary literature resource of the Bible as Literature class rests on top of a tower of other works Genovese uses when teaching his other literature classes. The Bible as Literature class will be based around helping students with “critical thinking, communication and writing skills while using the Bible as a basis,” Genovese said. The first semester will focus on the Old Testament and the second semester on the New Testament.
