Jaclyn Hester

Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior varsity girls basketball player Jaclyn Hester as the sixth Player of the Week for the winter sports season.

”She’s one of our offensive leading threats,”  head coach Emily Sweeney said.  “She just does a lot for our team.”

Hester broke the career scoring record on January 22 when she posted 17 points in a 48-33 loss to the McIntosh Lady Chiefs. The previous record was held by Class of 2020 graduate Alice Anne Hudson. Earlier in the season, Hester also broke Hudson’s single-game scoring record, currently set at 36 points.

“It was exciting, all the work paid off,” Hester said. “It wasn’t like one game or anything, it was hard work throughout the four years.”

Earlier this week, the Lady Panthers lost to Harris County 47-30. The team’s overall record is now 6-15. They are currently 3-8 and in sixth place in Region 2-AAAAA.

The Panthers host Whitewater tonight in the last game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
