Welcome to “Cheers and Jeers,” a section of The Prowler where staff members share what really grinds their gears. Here you will find unprecedented opinions, served hot and fresh every two weeks.

Cheers

Cheers to Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah on March 7. In the interview, Markle unveiled the harsh realities surrounding the British monarchy and opened up about her struggle with mental health while residing in the palace.

Cheers to March being Women’s History Month.

Cheers to March Madness returning. March Madness was the first sports event to fall victim to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. We are all happy to see this esteemed event return!

Cheers to March being Women’s History Month. Here’s to all of the powerful women out there who help run our world!

Cheers to Rice Krispies Treats! Not only are they delicious, but even our Staff Writer Charlie Goins can enjoy them (unlike spaghetti).

Jeers

Jeers to the British royal family. They have denied Meghan Markle mental health help and have made racist comments toward her children, asking Markle what color her son would be due to her identity as a biracial woman.

Jeers to the one-year anniversary of COVID-19 in the United States.

Jeers to Petr Yan’s illegal move of a knee to the head during the fourth round of the UFC-259 bantamweight fight on March 7. Yan’s opponent, Aljamain Sterling, was already down when he took a knee to the head, a move that resulted in Petr Yan’s disqualification.

Jeers to the one-year anniversary of COVID-19 in the United States. As of March 13, it will have been one year since the oh-so-successful nationwide shut-down that was supposed to curb the infection rate of the virus. Safe to say that that worked out well.

Jeers to chapped lips, but specifically chapped lips underneath a mask. No matter how carefully you apply your ChapStick, you are still bound to get it all over the inside of your mask.
