Tim Monihan of Farmers Insurance in Peachtree City presented senior swimmer Tyler Groenig with the tenth Player of the Week award of the winter sports season. He qualified for the 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter freestyle relay at the state meet.
“He was pushing really hard to get a state cut,” coach Derek Abrams said. “He swam his absolute best in the breaststroke and had a personal record.”
Groenig played a significant role in each meet, including the Mill’s 18th consecutive county championship.
“My relay group placed seventh overall at [state],” Groenig said. “I think the guys I swam with deserve this award as well.”
As a senior, Groenig has shown out and displayed great leadership skills in his final season.
“He stepped us as a senior,” Abrams said. “He’s a swimmer who puts in a lot of hard work.”
