Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior lineman Andrew Spitznagle as the fourth Player of the Week for this season.
“Linemen don’t get a lot of recognition so every once and a while you got to give those big guys a little love,” football head coach David Cooper said. “Now he is taking on a new role playing defense with us as well. So, going forward he is going to be a big part of what we do.”
In last week’s game against Veterans, the Starr’s Mill defensive line only allowed 161 yards rushing. Through the first three games, the Panthers are allowing 286.7 rushing yards per game.
“I think I contribute by being a leader and leading by example,” Spitznagle said.
Against Veterans, Starr’s Mill scored twice in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime but lost 17-14. The Panthers have started the season 0-3.
Starr’s Mill has a bye this week and will host Luella at 7:30 p.m. on September 12. The game against the Lions will be the last game before region play begins.
