Senior Charles Parnell has been selected as the eighth Player of the Week for the spring sports season. Coach Evert selected Parnell due to his hard work and leadership.

Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior Charles Parnell as the eighth Player of the Week for the 2023 spring sports season.
“He’s got the best skill on the team and has led the boys to where they are now,” head coach Amy Evert said. “He’s our number one player, he’s a senior, but he helps the younger players and less skilled players rise to the occasion.”
The boys tennis team finished the regular season 12-5 overall. With a perfect 6-0 region record, the boys captured the Region 4-AAAA title. Parnell and his teammates recently defeated Wayne County 3-0 in round one of the state playoffs.
“I give it [my] all on the court, 100% effort,” Parnell said. “Even when I’m down it’s not always over, there’s always a chance to come back and [I] never give up. [I] just keep fighting.”
Starr’s Mill hosts Cairo in the second round April 24 at 12 p.m. The match will be played at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
