Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize sophomore Emma Garcia as the first Player of the Week for the fall sports season. 

“Emma has completely dominated the circle for us early in the season,” head coach Peyton Dean said. “It’s her first time playing varsity and to be able to do that and completely dominate circles is really impressive.” 

Garcia has pitched 14.33 total innings with nine hits and four strikeouts. She has a 1.95 ERA. 

“I’ve been pitching on the mound recently for two of the games and they were two really high stakes games,” Garcia said. “It was a lot of mound time and pitching.” 

Coming off the last win against Callaway, Starr’s Mill is 5-2 overall and has not yet started region play. 

Region games begin next week when Starr’s Mill hosts Griffin at home. The game is next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
