Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize sophomore Haniel Herrera as the 14th Player of the Week for the fall sports season.

“I’ve improved my time a lot. I’ve contributed a lot to the team,” Herrera said. “I’ve consistently been to practice and [have been] supporting my teammates.”

Herrera has been running cross country for two years and has been consistently improving his times. He was the seventh highest junior varsity finisher for Starr’s Mill at the Great American XC Festival, finishing with a time of 18 minutes, 49.50 seconds.

“He’s been able to tow that line of doing just right and not crossing over into too much work and getting injured,” head coach Austin Enriquez said. “He’s able to do that while still having a good time.”

Starr’s Mill junior varsity finished fourth overall at the Great American XC Festival with 124 points. Green Level won with 64 points.

“[Being selected] means a lot,” Herrera said. “It’s recognition for the hard work I’ve put in, and I’m glad to have been selected for it.”

The Panthers compete at the Coach Wood Invitational on October 18 in Whitesburg, Georgia.
