Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior football player Sean Yoder as the 15th Player of the Week for the fall sports season.
“Whenever we’re on the field and the opponents are scoring, I have to pick ‘em up and say ‘we got this’,” Yoder said.
Yoder is a defensive end for the Panthers, with Starr’s Mill giving up an average of 206.6 rushing yards per game through eight games. In last week’s game against Harris County, the Tigers ran the ball 41 times for 143 yards and one touchdown.
“We changed the defense up a little to allow him to be a free roamer,” head coach David Cooper said. “That worked well, allowing us to have a great game.”
Starr’s Mill has a record of 3-6 overall, 3-2 in region. The Panthers currently sit fourth in Region 3-AAAA.
After a bye week next week, the Panthers host Jonesboro on October 30 in the team’s final regular season game.
