Junior Nathalia Herrera advanced out of the county level interviews in theater. Herrera credits her drama teacher from her previous hometown of New York City for her success.

Junior Nathalia Herrera will represent Starr’s Mill in theater.

“I prepared for GHP by going online and studying my favorite actors and their method,” Herrera said. “I was going over monologue options, and just recording myself doing the monologue, and seeing what I could tweak out and what to add on from there.”

Herrera credits her former drama teacher for her success.

“She helped me really become an actor,” Herrera said. “Before that I hadn’t really been acting, so thanks to her, that’s where I am right now.”

Herrera wants to be a film actor, so this is a step in that direction. She is currently taking Advanced Drama as a second year student.

In the past, Herrera has been recognized for completing two years of Advanced Drama, as well as a Shakespeare class when she lived in New York City.

“I really like to thank [drama teacher Lauren Kuykendall] for nominating me,” Herrera said. “This is my first year here, and she nominated me for this. I’m so grateful and thankful for her.”

Herrera loves to read, watch movies, and spend time with family and friends in her spare time.
