Cheers & Jeers
Cheers

Cheers to the unexpected long weekend. Due to inclement weather, students and teachers were able to get an extra day to rest and try to stay warm on Monday.

Cheers the basketball teams. On Saturday, both varsity basketball teams defeated McIntosh in the second Battle of the Bubble games of the season.

Cheers to the singles released last Thursday. Harry Styles released “Aperture” for “Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally” and The Arctic Monkeys released “Opening Night”  as the single for their “HELP(2)” album. Both albums are set to release on March 6 on all music streaming platforms.

Cheers to Vision Night. On Tuesday, Starr’s Mill hosted its annual Vision Night in order for incoming freshmen and other students to take a look at which classes they might like to take next year.

Cheers to rom-com season. With Valentine’s Day coming up, local movie theatre NCG is doing a $5 rom-com festival where they pick a different romantic comedy to show every week for $5 until the end of February.

Jeers

Jeers to getting sick. With all of the crazy weather that has been in Georgia the last couple of weeks, a lot of students have been getting sick.

Jeers to Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster has always had a reputation for crazy ticket prices, but with artists like Bruno Mars, BTS, A$AP Rocky, and Harry Styles all announcing tours around the same time, tickets have been at an all-time high.

Jeers to no snow. Everyone expected this past weekend to be yet another Snowmaggedon like last year, but when it came down to it, there was none, just a little bit of ice and freezing cold temperatures.

Jeers to gossip. In high school, it is inevitable for people to cause drama, but the blatant talking behind others backs just makes it so much worse.

Jeers to college decisions. ‘Tis the season that everyone starts hearing back from a lot of their early action applications, but the process of having to wait for a non-specific date like “late January” feels eternally daunting.
