“Taylor Swift, ugh –All I hear is Taylor Swift!”

Say what you want about Taylor Swift,  but she is earning it.

In October 2023, Taylor Swift catapulted herself into billionaire status. This was made possible due to The Eras Tour.

You cannot argue that Taylor Swift has climbed and clawed her way to the top of the music industry.

Taylor Swift started out as a small-town, 16-year-old country artist and is arguably the most famous person in the world right now. Swift is unstoppable for her ability to connect with her fans and entertain.

She really started to gain popularity by making the move into different genres. Her capability to move into mainstream pop music is extraordinary, most artists have a hard time doing this, but Swift executed successfully. Her recent albums “Midnights,” “1989,” “Reputation,” are all extremely successful pop albums.

Her pop albums have so many different tones. The album “1989,” gives listeners a typical pop album. “Reputation,” a crowd favorite, lets off a dark and edgy persona. Swift’s most recent pop album, “Midnights,” again brings a typical pop album, but with so much symbolism underneath. Her lyrics tell a story, and her awards finish them.

Taylor Swift defies typical demographics by making music that is appealing to young adults and older ones at the same time. It is rare to find an artist who is so relatable and this has helped propel Taylor Swift into superstardom.

She made headlines recently by re-releasing several of her previous albums and branding them as “Taylor’s Version.” By doing so, she has taken back creative control of her songs.

Swift re-releasing her previous albums is a kick in the face to her previous record label, Big Machine Records. Swift wrote her own lyrics and music for dozens of songs but technically did not own the rights to her own music. By re-releasing her previous albums she is changing the music industry. Now, she will get credit for her creative work and all proceeds will be given to her, not to a giant corporation acting as a middle man.

Then came The Eras Tour. Swift’s Eras Tour takes you through time and leaves you astonished.

When Swift announced her stadium tour, it was all anyone could talk about. This came after a pandemic which saw declining concerts and shows worldwide. Swift announced her stadium tour at the perfect time, right when everyone was finally ready to go back to the normalcy of large crowds and splurging on entertainment venues.

Due to such high demand for tickets, Ticketmaster crashed, leaving many with no chance of going to The Eras Tour. Swift realized many of her fans were left out in the cold and decided to film her concert and release it into theaters.

To date, The Eras Tour movie has earned $160 million dollars, causing other artists to wonder if they should do the same. The major artist Beyonce announced her Renaissance Tour Movie. Beyonce is following in Swift’s footsteps, like many other artists will do.

Swift found a new way to target different audiences and appease her fans. Some say, The Eras Tour Movie is significantly impacting profits for movie theaters. For several years the movie theaters sat empty because of COVID-19. Streaming movies became more commonplace and owners of movie theaters were having hard time enticing people back to the theaters. The Eras Tour Movie broke records and was a huge boom for the economy.

Just when you think Taylor Swift has oversaturated the news, a romance with NFL player Travis Kelce has bolstered her into a whole new demographic…football viewers. After attending Kelce’s games his jersey sales went up and the NFL viewership rose markedly.

It is reported that Swift has made $370 million off just ticket sales and merchandise so far. Based on just The Eras Tour, Swift has generated $4.3 billion for the U.S. economy.

Taylor Swift is a true phenomenon and will continue to bolster the economy as well as inspire young and old adults. She is not just changing the industry. Taylor Swift is the music industry.
