Jake Bishop

Farmers Insurance awarded senior point guard Jake Bishop from the varsity boys’ basketball team as the seventh player of the week for winter sports. Bishop is playing a fantastic season while leading the Panthers to a 14-7 record, 7-2 in region play.

“The one thing about Bishop that stands out is that he has heart,” head coach Brandon Hutchins said. “Jake doesn’t like to lose, and he’s always giving one-hundred percent.”

Bishop is only averaging five points, five assists, two rebounds, and two steals per game, but what he does doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. As point guard, Bishop is the team leader. Every game, Bishop runs the offense and does not let the pressure of the game disrupt his play.

“Jake plays the most important position on the whole floor and he does a great job doing so,” Hutchins said. “He brings the intensity and does exactly what he needs to do.”

Bishop is always playing tight defense and coordinating game-changing plays on offense.

”I never imagined I would be [running point guard and leading],” Bishop said. “[I’m] focused and ready to get another win.”
