Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize sophomore Tanner Via as the 13th Player of the Week for the fall sports season.

“Tanner made a really good play. He’s been rolling, been playing more and more during the season,” head coach Chad Phillips said. “He’s really starting to come on and really play well.”

On October 20, the Starr’s Mill team defeated Riverdale 48-0 for its second consecutive region win. Via returned an interception for 49 yards for a touchdown to put Starr’s Mill up 20-0 in the second quarter.

Senior Dorsey Benefield scored twice. Senior Anderson Cardoza, and juniors Lincoln DeLaere and Jeremiah Potter also scored in the win.

“As a team we definitely did [well],” Via said. “I think I can improve on tackling and getting better with all my teammates.”

Varsity football traveled to North Clayton last Friday to play the Eagles in Tara Stadium. The Panthers won 41-6. The team is now in a three-way tie atop the region standings as they travel to Whitewater on November 3.
