Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize junior Tyler Griffin as the fifth Player of the Week for the winter sports season.
“It means a lot, you know,” Griffin said. “It really shows that all the hard work paid off.”
This is Griffin’s second year playing for Starr’s Mill. Last week, he scored 36 points against McIntosh and 31 points against Fayette County.
Through the first six games of the season, Griffin is averaging 31 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 2 assists per game.
“His role was smaller and then it got bigger in his tenth grade year. Now he’s a huge part of what we do,” head coach Josh Reeves said. “When the moment is big, he is right there in it.”
The Panthers traveled to Carrollton on December 9 and lost 69-51. Starr’s Mill is currently 4-2 overall. The team begins region play at Griffin on December 19.
