Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize junior girls basketball player Maddie Grant as the seventh Player of the Week for the winter sports season.
“[It is] a competitive sport,” Grant said. “It’s hard to do, and it’s just fun.”
Grant has been on the varsity girls basketball team since her sophomore year. She enjoys running the ball up the court. She makes frequent rebounds and assists that benefit her fellow Panthers.
“She’s added a layer of consistency to a team that’s really contributed to our success this year,” head coach Brandon Cerezola said. “Coming off the bench, she just brought a competitive spirit and toughness that we needed.”
The Panthers defeated region opponent Griffin earlier this week, 70-32. Grant scored 7 points and had 3 rebounds. She averages 1.8 assists per game.
Starr’s Mill hosts Central Carrollton tonight at 6 p.m. The Panthers are currently first in the region (5-0) and 15-2 overall.
