Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize sophomore sprinter Kristen Ware as the ninth Player of the Week for the spring sports season.
“Because recently, they’ve been needing me to run the 400, and they know I’m not a 400 runner,” Ware said. “But they put me in.”
Ware typically runs the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints. She has been on the varsity team for two years.
“Kristen has jumped in back to back meets for us, basically running the 400 on multiple different events,” head coach Brandon Frey said. “[At] the girls DMR, we had nobody to run the 400 and again, she was in town, over a break, would’ve been easy to say ‘Staying at home,’ but she stepped up and decided to run that 400.”
Ware’s top time in the 100 is 13.07 seconds. Her best time in the 200 is 27.28 seconds.
The Panthers compete in the region track meet hosted at Northside Columbus on April 22-23.
