Tim Monihan and Farmers Insurance recognize senior middle distance runner Jackson Underwood as the 14th Player of the Week for the spring sports season.

This is Underwood’s second time being recognized by Farmer’s Insurance Player of the Week.

“I placed well at state,” Underwood said. “I ran a 1:57 in the 800 and [placed] 6th in the state.”

On May 11, Underwood ran the mile and the 800-meter. He placed 3rd in the mile with a time of 4 minutes and 22.19 seconds, and 6th in the 800-meter with a time of 1:57.13.

“He had a phenomenal day at the state meet last Monday at UGA,” head coach Brandon Frey said. “He placed 3rd in the mile and sixth for the 800. He ran the 4 by 4 for us when we ran a season’s best time.”

Starr’s Mill boys finished 10th overall at the state meet with a score of 23 points.
