Responsibilities
- Counsel students with last names A-Ek
Starr’s Mill welcomes school counselor Jordan Finch to the Panther family. Finch will work with students whose last names range from A-Ek.
Finch just graduated from college in May. As a result, this is her first ever counseling job. Although Finch is relatively new, she loves the atmosphere that Starr’s Mill offers.
“The kids are super nice and even before the kids everybody here is just nice and super helpful,” counselor Jordan Finch said. “I feel this school has a lot of support, which I like.”
While in college, Finch was confused on what she wanted to do. She remembers being heavily influenced by her own school counselor in elementary school, so she decided to go down that road as well. Since this is her first counseling job, Finch has reached some challenges in the beginning.
“[The students] don’t know me,” Finch said. “So kind of finding ways for them to open up has been kind of hard.”
Even though she is new to Starr’s Mil, she is determined to make connections with her students and contribute to the school. In her free time, Finch loves to draw and do anything artistic. She loves to read, create, and interior design.
“I love the school, and I love some of the kids that I talked to,” Finch said. “And [it is great] to let them know, ‘You know that I am here’.”
