Starr’s Mill inducted the third class of the Hall of Fame last Friday before the game against Harris County. Inductees included former athletes Ariston Bowers, Zach Laskey, and Casey Bond, as well as former soccer coach Mike Hanie and former athletic director Mike Davis.
They were recognized on Saturday at the Whitewater Creek Country club where people shared memories, laughter, and love.
Ariston Bowers was introduced by his former wrestling coach Mickey Statham, Zach Laskey by former football coach Chad Phillips, Casey Bond by his former teammate Billy Morrison, and Mike Hanie by current soccer coach Aaron Buck. The late Mike Davis was introduced by the former football announcer Bob White and former head football coach Mike Earwood. Speaking on his behalf were his former secretary Terri Watkins and current assistant principal and registrar Brandi Meeks.
Previous inductees Mike Houghtaling and Donald Lambing also attended the ceremony.
The Hall of Fame selection committee will gather in the next couple of weeks to debrief this year’s banquet and ceremony. They will release a form that allows anyone to submit recommendations for people who qualify for induction. This form will be released in the early months of 2026.
Candidates range anywhere from athletes and students to teachers and volunteers that have contributed to the Starr’s Mill community. For more information and updates, follow the Starr’s Mill and Hall of Fame social media at @starrsmillhs and @smhshof as well as the Starr’s Mill website.
