Happy Homecoming Week, Panthers! This week has been a fun chance to dress up and bond with your classmates. While you are getting ready for the Homecoming game tonight or tomorrow’s dance, read this week’s KICs. For this week we have countries that mourn and show respect for Charlie Kirk, new foods being introduced in school cafeterias, a suspect detained in the investigation of Beyonce’s stolen music, and the Pentagon denying certain NBC reports.
World – Countries around the world mourn, show respect for Charlie Kirk
Following Charlie Kirk’s assasination on September 10, 2025, many statements of grief came from leaders across Europe. There have been statements from leaders of Italy, France, Britain, and Hungary.
Britain has shown respect by acknowledging how heart-breaking it is for the Kirk family to be robbed of a father and husband. Hungary later made a statement about their opinion and how it is the result of the hate campaign formed by the Left. The statements vary from being political like Hungary to sincere like Britain.
Beside just statements made on X or statements made in interviews, there have also been vigils that have taken place for Charlie Kirk. Catholic vigils have popped up in London, Berlin, Madrid, and Rome.
National – New tastes from around the world introduced in school cafeterias
School districts around the nation have decided to introduce a more global menu to students. Foods like chicken masala and honey chipotle grilled chicken are in, while mystery meat is out.
The mass majority of foods we are seeing being added to the newest menus are mostly spicy foods. The data even supports the new spicy craving, as flavors such as hot honey and Nashville hot have grown in popularity by more than 200% and 100%, respectively. In a recent poll, 73% of parents reported that their kids tried something new in the previous week.
Even in Georgia, we see the changes, like with Gwinnett County, adding ramen, churraso chicken, and chicken masala. This change happened because students of Gwinnett County had asked for these flavors and the school district listened.
State – Suspect detained in investigation of Beyonce’s stolen music
Suspect Kelvin Evans has been charged with crimes related to Beyonce’s missing music files. In July 2025, Evans broke into a vehicle containing Beyonce’s unreleased music.
Beyonce’s choreographer and dancer called the police on July 8 to report the burglary. Beyonce’s staff confirmed thumb drives and two Apple laptops, which contain the unreleased music, were stolen. The suspect has now been detained on charges of entering a vehicle with the intent to commit theft and a parole violation.
None of the items have been recovered. Authorities are still collecting information in preparation for a trial.
Politics – Pentagon denies NBC fake reports related to Charlie Kirk recruiting campaign
NBC News recently published reports stating that military leaders are using the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk as a new recruitment drive. The Pentagon is pushing back against these statements claiming them as false.
Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wison stated that the claims are 100% wrong, and that they are making false claims off of anonymous sources with no knowledge of the recruitment process. The Pentagon released the statement that they gave NBC where chief spokesman Sean Parnell said NBC was making up lies to undermine the administration.
NBC cited two unnamed sources using Charlie Kirk as a call to service. This is being claimed as an exploitation of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
