Freshman Clara-Laine Bardo has been reading the book “The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” by Mackenzi Lee.

“It’s a historical fiction,” Bardo said. “It’s witty, and its twists and turns keep me on my toes.”
The reader follows the character Henry “Monty” Montague, his sister Felicity, and his crush Percy, on a tour of Europe. However, one bad decision turns this tour of pleasures to a full-on manhunt. Now, everything Monty has ever known about himself and his family is put into question.
“I’ve always enjoyed historical fiction,” Bardo said. “Especially when the story challenges the times it portrays.”
Mackenzi Lee has written a wide variety of books. She has written books for Marvel, like “Loki: Where Mischief Lies” and her own personal books like “Ladylike.”
“[I would recommend this book] entirely,” Bardo said. “It’s everything you could ask for in one book.”
“A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” is a story challenging societal norms, especially those on race and gender, are worth fighting against.
