Sophomore Aubrey Rieke recently watched the new Adam Sandler sequel “Happy Gilmore 2.”
“Happy Gilmore 2” picks up many years after the first one, showing how Gilmore gave up golf after inadvertently killing his wife, and now he has to take care of their five children on his own. The story takes viewers through Gilmore reconnecting with his love of golf and finding happiness in it again with the help of many surprise cameos.
The film is led by Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore, and his real-life wife and two daughters, Jackie, Sunny, and Sadie Sandler. In total, the film amassed over 70 celebrity cameos including professional golfers, other athletes, music artists, and actors. Some of the most notable included Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Marcello Hernandez, Steve Buscemi, and Margaret Qualley. The film was also directed by Kyle Newacheck who is also known for directing the 2019 Adam Sandler film, “Murder Mystery.”
Why did you like this movie?
“Just because it is the sequel,” Rieke said. “I liked the first one.”
What did this movie mean to you?
“It just showed that if you take a break from something then you can come back and do it and still be good,” Rieke said.
Based on this movie, what other movies would you recommend?
“Any sports movie,” Rieke said. “The first ‘Happy Gilmore’ and ‘Remember the Titans’ because that’s a good one.”
