World history and AP art history teacher Rebecca Rickeard has recently been listening to “Christ is Mine Forevermore” by CityAlight.

“Its just a beautiful song that reminds me of my faith,” Rickeard said. “[It] helps keep me centered, helps me keep my perspective.”
“Christ is Mine Forevermore” is a song that revolves around the fact that even though you make mistakes and sin, or have bad days and times, God is with you always. “Mine are tears in times of sorrow/darkness not yet understood” portray how you might not understand why God is putting you through your hardship, but the word “yet” infers that you will later on.
The song follows a strong hymn structure as it focuses less on a more modern beat, and more on the melody and depth of the lyrics. Because the song is so gentle, it can be easily converted into an acoustic song, which was done by the artist in 2018. This gentle nature also allows for much contemplation and thought about the lyrics, giving listeners the opportunity to reflect on their own faiths greatly.
The song was released to the album “Only a Holy God” on December 4, 2016. This was CityAlight’s sophomore album, their second out of three so far in their career. Their other two albums were released in 2015 and 2022. They also have an EP that was released in 2018.
Rickeard recommends the songs “Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor” and “O Come All You Unfaithful” to those who enjoy songs by CityAlight.
“Those are two that when I do listen to music, I listen to them,” Rickeard said.
“Christ is Mine Forevermore” is available to listen to on all streaming platforms.
