Tuesday night, Starr’s Mill varsity girls lacrosse won their fifth consecutive game as they defeated Pace Academy, 19-9.
“It was a really good win. Pace is a little bit down this year, but they’re still a really competitive team,” head coach Tony Kluemper said. “We played well, we played as a team, we played a complete game.”
The Lady Panthers had a strong start, ending the first period up 7-2. The Knights continued to struggle throughout the second period. Starr’s Mill led 12-5 at halftime.
“I thought we played really well,” senior Sophia Marshburn said. “I feel like we all worked as a team.”
The game stayed consistent throughout the second half with Starr’s Mill maintaining control and the lead. The game ended with the Lady Panthers winning 19-9.
“I felt the game went really well and everybody played their hardest,” sophomore Landry Hunter said.
The Lady Panthers are 12-5 overall and 5-0 in the area. After winning the area, Starr’s Mill earned a first-round bye in the GHSA state playoffs. They host Blessed Trinity in round two at 7 p.m. on May 1.
