Starr’s Mill claimed a victory over Fellowship Christian in the second round of state playoffs, 8-3.
The Panthers had amazing defense during the game, taking control of the ball and minimizing scoring chances for the opponent.
“On a defensive perspective, real brothers out there,” junior Luke Hofrichter said. “[With the team and my friends], I love playing with them. It’s a lot of fun, a band of brothers out there.”
During the first half, the team’s defensive work was on point. Teamwork got them the ball multiple times with two players scoring successful solo shots. They got to halftime with a score of 3-2 in favor of the Panthers.
“We gutted one out,” head coach Jeff Schmidlkofer said. “That was a tough game.”
After halftime, the team worked together to increase the lead. Senior goalie Alex Mann did his part by stopping several shots. Starr’s Mill advanced after defeating Fellowship Christian, 8-3.
The Panthers traveled to Marist in the next round of the state playoffs, losing 12-6.
