The Fayette County Education Foundation has given all full-time and part-time employees in the county $15 Amazon gift cards.

“It was a massive undertaking getting the gift cards distributed, but the reaction from employees has been worth it,” Treasurer of the Fayette County Education Foundation Melinda Berry-Dreisbach said.

With all the challenges that faculty members have been hit with this year because of the pandemic, the foundation wanted to help teachers out the best that they could. This gift was to replace the traditional grants that they provide for teacher’s special classroom projects. However, they decided not to do the traditional grants due to the lack of time for teachers to go through the application process.

“One school secretary used it to buy some fashionable face coverings, a warehouse employee purchased a bike helmet, and a teacher bought dry erasers for her whiteboard,” Berry-Dreisbach said.

The diversity of the gift card has allowed for the faculty to use the funds for whatever they deem necessary. This gift has given faculty some relief in a year full of unexpected challenges.
