The Hall of Fame’s inaugural class receives their awards. The Starr’s Mill Hall of Fame was created to honor important people in school history.

Starr’s Mill inducted its inaugural Hall of Fame class at last week’s football game. The inaugural class includes Manny Bashakes, Clint Barbour, Mike Earwood, Mary Chaudoin Mullins, and Sam Martin.

“It’s important to honor those who set the standard of expectations,” Principal Allen Leonard said.

The Starr’s Mill Hall of Fame has been an idea for years. However, with the school opening in 1997, there needed to be a history of potential inductees prior to nominating the first class.

The Hall of Fame Inductees are chosen by a board of Starr’s Mill community members. This board reviews a list of nominations before choosing people for each inducted class.

“The Hall of Fame shows the success we have at Starr’s Mill,” Athletic Director and Assistant Principal Shane Ratliff said.

In the future, Ratliff wants to have the induction be a bigger ceremony. The actual induction will be at half-time, instead of during the pre-game. This way, more people are able to see the inductees.

From this year on, more and more people in Starr’s Mill history will be honored for their contributions to school history.
