Cheers & Jeers

Cheers to the Hall of Fame inductees and the recent region win for football both on the same day. At last Friday’s home football game against LaGrange, five candidates were inducted into the inaugural Hall of Fame class.

Cheers to fall. Who does not love fall? It is the perfect temperature — not too hot, not too cold. Seasonal foods and scents come out, like caramel and pumpkin spice. And, of course, Halloween!

Cheers to Biscoff cookies. The wonderful cinnamon flavored airplane cookies that melt in your mouth always bring a sense of warmness no matter where I am. It is such an underrated cookie that is not talked about much, but thank goodness they sell them in stores. And do not forget about the Biscoff butter spread that can turn any plain toast into a delicious Biscoff bite.

Cheers to the speech and debate team. At last weekend’s competition in Alpharetta, junior SarahSaltos and sophomore Zoe Karen earned runner-up in novice public forum. Sophomores Nate Pacettii and Muna Kalu and seniors Tani Alofe and Juan Fritschy advanced to the quarterfinals in the same event. Junior Ella Griswold won first place in informative speaking.

Cheers to homecoming proposals. I have never been to homecoming before, but I have seen all kinds of proposals. From getting your friends to hold signs to simply asking a friend, being asked to go to homecoming is a vital experience that all high- school students should experience at least once.

Jeers to practices in cold rain. I know practice is essential to getting better, but do we really need to do it when the temperature is 58 degrees and it is raining?

A simple question with maybe a gift, or none, would be perfect.”

Jeers to washing a car and then it rains. There is nothing more satisfying than washing your own car and making it all nice and shiny…only for it to rain a few hours later. Sure, maybe I should have looked at the forecast, but still.

Jeers to slow walkers, especially the ones who are loud. Slow walkers are my biggest pet peeve. I cannot stand it when I am trying to make it to class on time all the way on one side of the school, and I get blocked by a group of slow walking, shouting kids. Please, move your feet.

Jeers to cameras in houses. I understand security purposes and being able to check in on your kids, but if I am petsitting in your house, please do not talk to me through those fancy microphone/camera things.

Jeers to homecoming proposals. Personally, I think that homecoming proposals are an intimate thing, and do not need to be as showy as they are. A simple question with maybe a gift, or none, would be perfect.
