  • Aug. 1, 2019 - Freshman Livvy Zimmerman practices opening her locker. This year students have to put their bookbags in lockers. Administration also tried to minimize inconveniences by allowing students to pick the location of locker.

  • Aug. 7, 2019 - Varsity volleyball practices for upcoming matches. The Lady Panthers played Aug. 6 at home against Locust Grove and Presbyterian Day School. Their next match is Aug. 15 at Starr’s Mill against Ola and Columbus.

  • Aug. 9, 2019 - Tucker family’s cat Teki poses for a photo with his baby picture. He was rescued from a Georgia animal shelter at the age of one month in 2008.

  • Aug. 10, 2019 - Manny the Manatee on Peachtree Parkway and Walt Banks Road. Manny dresses up for various occasions throughout the year.

  • Aug. 11, 2019 - Chick-fil-A’s new macaroni and cheese. On Aug. 11, Chick-fil-A released a new item on their menu, the first new item added since 2016. Along with the release of the macaroni and cheese dish, Chick-fil-A has also added salted caramel iced coffee to the menu.

  • Aug. 12, 2019 - Students in Todd Little’s ceramics class learn to recycle clay. “Once students master recycling, they will be self-reliant and able to make clay for future projects,” Little said. “It’s a messy job but someone’s gotta do it.”

  • Aug. 12, 2019 - Piece of glass outside Fred’s Beach House. Parking lot attendant Fred Harrington returned to school Tuesday morning to see glass lying everywhere. School resource officer Zane Taylor and Principal Allen Leonard are investigating the incident.

  • Aug. 13, 2019 - Sophomore Lilli Backes prepares to deliver a pitch against the McIntosh Lady Chiefs. Backes threw a complete game and had a total of 15 strikeouts. The Panthers defeated the Chiefs 8-0.

  • Aug. 15, 2019 - Freshmen Madison Burns and Tyndall Phillips carry their books as they walk to class. Students are now required to carry their belongings instead of using bookbags. This is one of several changes the administration approved for the 2019-2020 school year.

  • Aug. 16, 2019 - Interquest dog Jerry Springer gazes up at his trainer after finding an empty can of beer. Mr. Jerry Springer is apart of Interquest, a dog training company that was hired by FCBOE to show students of Starr’s Mill what drug-sniffing dogs can do.

  • Aug. 18, 2019 - The school year begins and starts a new routine of setting alarms to wake up early.

  • Aug. 19, 2019 - Seniors Jacob Shaeffer, Margaret Xiao and Noah Stadelmeyer work on a lab in Nicholas Gillies’ 7th period physics class. In AP Physics C students worked on a lab to calculate the gravity on a tennis ball when dropped from various heights.

  • Aug. 19, 2019 - Evergreen shrub wilts in the sunlight. Evergreen shrubs line the courtyard pathways that connect the academic hallways.

  • Aug. 19, 2019 - Junior Ella Lance practices dance during Antonela Brkic’s 7th period. During dance class, students warm-up with cardio and stretching. Each day they learn various techniques. Monday is dedicated to students practicing ballet. The other days of the week are open for students to create their own routines.

  • Aug. 20, 2019 - Sophomore Ramey Koors and senior Micheal Ross in Christie Jarret’s chemistry class test a variety of white powders. The purpose of the lab was to identify different substances.

  • Aug. 22, 2019 - Spilt rice scattered across the courtyard between the 600 and 700 hallways.

  • Aug. 22, 2019 - Starr’s Mill Beta Club co-president Jaeyoung Choi, treasurer Sofia Varmeziar, co-president Hiyori Yokasawa and secretary Brooke Barkley welcome members to the first meeting of the school year. Students in Beta Club gather monthly to share upcoming events. The students are able to volunteer at given events and gain service hours.

  • Aug. 22, 2019 - Senior Kayla Sloan and sophomore Joy Johnson block the ball against Harris County Tigers. The Lady Panthers defeated the Tigers 2-0, but were defeated 2-0 by the Heritage Hawks.

  • Aug. 23, 2019 - Freshman Eden Elling applies makeup. Putting makeup on is a daily routine for a lot of students at Starr’s Mill.

  • Aug. 25, 2019 - Blue flame slowly corrodes an amber sunflower blossom. The sunflower used to be home to many insects until it fell from the stem.

  • Aug. 27, 2019 - Senior Addie Metarko grabs a piece of pizza at the Peers Are Linking Students meeting. The goal of the club is to link all types of students together in a supportive community. PALS has a number of events that they participate in, for example the PALS pageant.

  • Aug. 27, 2019 - Claire’s recently closed in The Avenue shopping center. Many of the Avenue stores have been closing due to the rise in renting prices.

  • Aug. 27, 2019 - School spirit sign hangs in the rotunda featuring the motto “We love our youths.” The tailgate leadership made this sign to prepare students for the first football game of the season. The Panthers host the Mt. Zion Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 30.

  • Aug. 28, 2019 - Marshmallows start to burn as they roast over the stove.

  • Aug. 28, 2019 - Sophomore Oreana Bueno-Perez burns a penny on a Bunsen burner to turn it into fake gold. A zinc covered penny will turn a golden color when put over a flame.

  • Aug. 29, 2019 - Scented wax melts in a wax melter. Using heat, the wax melts and releases a scent. This particular wax melt was found in Adriah Williams’ room.

  • Aug. 29, 2019 - Decorations on dance team member lockers. Many sport teams at Starr’s Mill decorate athlete lockers. Decorations can range from full locker coverage to the size of note cards. Each team has their own tradition for decorating.

  • Aug. 29, 2019 - Students in French club pick out a design for this year’s club t-shirt.
