The boys’ lacrosse team has shown a new level of aggressiveness that has worked wonders for their success. “We just try to pressure the ball to create turnovers, and we try to do it the right way,” head coach Jeff Schmidlkofer said. “The guys are really buying into it, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it.”

Reeves has proven to be a dedicated head coach in his first season, despite the team’s disappointing record. “I’ve never questioned our effort,” Reeves said. “I’ve seen our team get better. When you get 75 percent of the way you want to see what it looks like 100 percent of the way, and I want to see it with these kids.”

Senior Bret Myers wraps his arms around a Whitewater opponent. Myers went 3-0, winning all matches by pin. The Starr’s Mill wrestling team went 2-1 in their duals to qualify for state. “We have a lot of guys that don’t have a lot of experience and I think that inexperience showed in the matches,” head coach Andrew Garner said. “Although it’s tough this year, with the inexperience, it helps in the long run.”
