German teacher Amanda Thompson recently read “The Mysterious Benedict Society” by Trenton Lee Stewart.

“It’s about a group of children who answer an ad in a newspaper,” Thompson said. “They take a test to see if they would be a good fit for the secret society.”

The book is about the children investigating an institution called L.I.V.E, to see why they are sending radio messages about an international panic. They explore the school and find it is run by an evil mastermind. The children have to find allies in the school to take him down.

“I like the adventure aspect and the mysterious sides of it,” Thompson said.

Thompson began reading this book to see if it would be a good fit for her 11-year-old. She wanted to find something that would keep his attention. After reading it, she believes this is the perfect fit.

“The Mysterious Benedict Society” was a New York best seller in 2008. Stewart has written nine books, all dealing with mysteries. “The Mysterious Benedict Society” was also adapted into a TV show on Disney+.
