Freshman Kimberly Palmer read “Shatter Me” by Tahereh Mafi.

“I like this book because it includes two of my favorite genres, dystopian fiction and romance,” Palmer said.

“Shatter Me” is about a girl who has been locked up in an insane asylum for her ability to kill others with one touch. In the story, she finds some are immune to her abilities.

“This book always keeps me on the edge of my seat,” Palmer said.

Tahereh Mafi is the author of “Shatter Me.” She is a national book award nominee and best selling author. Mafi also wrote “An Emotion of Great Delight,” “This Woven Kingdom” series, “Shatter Me” series, “A Very Large Expanse of Sea,” “Whichwood,” and “Furthermore.”

“I would totally recommend this book to other readers,” Palmer said. ”It has the perfect amount of suspense, and it always keeps you wanting more.”

Palmer describes the theme of the book as being related to how you may have a different view of yourself than others do.
