The previous books followed her work as a housemaid who built a livelihood off of helping abused women with their relationships. Although in the third book, time has passed and she has settled down with a family of her own. However, her neighbor’s wife, Suzette, has been acting strangely.
“The thing that makes the story really scary is the fact that it’s realistic,” Crowder said. “It feels like this is something that could actually happen to another human being.”
