Considering she has released six albums in seven years, the last one in 2020, four years is a long wait for Grande to drop new music. During that gap her music might have been quiet, but her life was not. Ariana Grande’s engagement and divorce was very public, and is the main motive behind her new album.
“Eternal sunshine” takes listeners through Grande’s perspective of finding post-divorce peace with catchy melodies and beats along the way.
Out of the 13 tracks on the album, “yes, and?,” “bye,” and “eternal sunshine” are the most striking.
She released “yes, and?” as a single, and it debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. The song resembles every aspect of a pop song. Underneath the melodic harmonizing, there are deep lyrics. Grande is done trying to please people. She sings, “Now I’m so done with caring; What you think, no, I won’t hide; Underneath your own projections; Or change my most authentic life.”

“Bye” is a direct jab at her ex-husband Dalton Gomez. Although this song resembles more of a naïve Ariana Grande as she sings “boy, bye” it is a very catchy tune. It is the perfect song to start off the album, as it grabs listeners’ attention. Her vocal range, harmonies, and the incorporation of the beat drops and piano are truly incredible.
The song “eternal sunshine” brings up exciting new topics. Ariana Grande brings new light onto the subject of her divorce, hinting accusations of cheating from her partner with the lyric “I’ve never seen someone lie like you do.”
