Senior Camryn Meeks is listening to “More Than My Hometown” by Morgan Wallen. This song is about choosing a small hometown life over a big city life.

Senior Camryn Meeks is currently listening to “More Than My Hometown” by Morgan Wallen.

“It’s a very relaxing song. Just because of how calm the lyrics are,” Meeks said.

In “More Than My Hometown,” Wallen sings about a breakup with his girlfriend over their future plans. Rather than exploring and living somewhere elaborate, like his girlfriend, Wallen says that he would prefer to stay in his hometown and settle down.

He sings “Yeah, you got a wild in your eyes that I just wasn’t born with. I’m a same gas station cup of coffee in the mornin’. I need a house on the hill, girl, not in ’em…”

In these lyrics, Wallen explains that unlike his girlfriend, he wants to stay in the same place he is familiar with and grew up in.

“More Than My Hometown” was released in 2021 as a part of Wallen’s album “Dangerous.” The song cover contains a road sign labeled Sneedville, Tennessee, which is Morgan Wallen’s hometown, fitting for the title of the song.

“I like to listen to [More Than My Hometown] at night, driving home with the windows down,” Meeks said.

Wallen grew up in Sneedville playing baseball for his school, and learning the piano and violin. Wallen gained popularity in 2014 when he competed in the reality television show, called “The Voice.”

Morgan Wallen’s music, including “More Than My Hometown,” can be listened to on Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
