Sophomore Sauj Das is currently listening to “Imagination” by Shawn Mendes.
“I like how relatable it is,” Das said. “It makes me realize lots of things about what was confusing a year or two ago.”
The song “Imagination” was inspired by Mendes’s personal experience and emotions. The lyrics are inspired by Mendes’s long distance relationship at the time. The tone of the song reveals a soft and warm, inspirational love song.
“It’s the fourth lyric [in the beginning] that really stands out to me when I’m listening to the song,” Das said.
Shawn Mendes is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Pickering, Canada, who gained a following in 2013 on the social media platform Vine. Mendes’s first album was released in 2015, selling 106,000 copies in its first week, earning a certified platinum.
“He actually makes great songs and the music is really chill,” Das said. “When I listen to the music, I really pay attention to the lyrics.”
