Rain cancels NXS qualifying, lineup set by owner points

Due to lingering mist, the NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying set for 9:35 a.m. this morning was canceled.

Cole Custer, driver of the No. 00 Jacob Companies Ford for Stewart-Hass Racing, will lead the field to the green flag in this afternoon’s Rinnai 250. The field was set according to NASCAR’s rulebook using owner points from how the 2018 season ended.

Yesterday, Custer paced the first NXS practice with a top speed of 178.218 mph and fell to third during the second practice with a top speed of 176.448 mph. However, in the second practice, Custer had the third highest 10 consecutive lap average with an average speed of 172.250 mph.

Justin Haley, driver of the No. 11 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing, will start the race in the 13th slot. Haley placed third in the first practice with a max speed of 176.555 mph and rose to first during the second practice with a max speed of 177.783 mph.

Peachtree City native Garrett Smithley, driver of the No. 0 Teamjdmotorsports.com Chevrolet for JD Motorsports, will start 22nd. Smithley placed 20th in the first practice with a top speed of 170.537 mph and fell to 24th in the second practice with a max speed of 168.393 mph.
