The “Battle for the Troops” will commemorate its ten-year anniversary at the varsity soccer games this year at McIntosh High School. All proceeds from the event go to support local veterans and first responders.

Friday night, the Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers played on the road against the Morrow High School Lady Mustangs.  In the another region match for the Lady Panthers, the team overpowered and outplayed their host, winning decisively 10-0.

With a shortened match due to the scoring prowess of the Lady Panthers, there was no doubt about what would be the final result.  Although the Lady Panthers struggled with offsides, they dominated in time of possession, scoring chances and goals.

Scorers for the Lady Panthers included freshman Chloe Thompson and Sara Evans each with a hat trick, freshman Darby Olive with a brace, and juniors Meritt Parker and Rachel Davison each with a goal.  Assists on the night went to Davison, Olive and freshman Ali Rumpel each with 2 and Parker with 3.

Starr’s Mill moved to 6-1-4 on the season and remained undefeated at 4-0-0 in region play. The Mill plays again tomorrow at home in a varsity double header starting at 5:55 p.m.
