Varsity cross country teams qualify for state, JV teams end season with pair of wins

Both varsity cross country teams are headed to state, while the JV seasons have ended. In last weekend’s region championship races, Starr’s Mill boys won and the girls placed fourth.

Senior Garrett Jones was the highest finisher on the boys team, placing second with a time of 16 minutes, 23.74 seconds. Freshman Bankston Roach finished 8th with a time of 16.51.51, and junior Grant Doger finished 11th with a time of 17.07.04.

For the girls, freshman Allison Moore finished second with a time of 20 minutes, 16.20 seconds. Sophomore Kate Hamilton finished the 5K event with a time of 21.32.64 placing 11th, and sophomore Ava Nelson finished 14th with a time of 21.50.75.

Both JV teams finished first to close their seasons. Sophomore Diego Ramos topped all JV runners with a time of 18 minutes and 1.57 seconds. Eighth grader Allison Moore was the highest girl finisher completing the event in  third place with a time of 21 minutes, 50.23 seconds.

Up next for both varsity teams is the state meet at Carrollton on November 6.
