Seniors Samantha Corkill, Maggie Kluemper, Carlee Campbell, Sunny McQuade, Hanna Ukleja, Erin Stone, Gianna Jimenez, and Emma Frank were honored at senior night before the game. The Panthers defeated the Bears, 12-7.

Tuesday night, the Lady Panthers hosted Holy Innocents on senior night.

The senior ceremony occurred right before the game began. During the game, the team tried to get all of the seniors to score.

Seniors Sunny McQuade and Erin Stone, and junior Sarah Marshburn scored twice, while freshmen Landry Hunter and Brooke Kalen and seniors Carlee Campbell, Emma Frank, Maggie Kluemper, and Gianna Jimenez scored once.

In the first quarter, the Panthers tied with the Bears. Hunter, McQuade, and Kalen each scored once. Hunter scored within the first minute.

At halftime, the Panthers led 7-4. Marshburn scored twice while Kluemper and McQuade added another goal. The Bears managed to score once in the second quarter.

“Just proud of the heart they give, and how they really put effort into the game,” head coach Tony Kluemper said. “Even when we’re down or making mistakes, we find ways to come back.”

In the third quarter, Campbell, Frank, and Jimenez scored once each for the Panthers, while the Bears scored once.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, goalkeeper Samantha Corkill stopped a goal from the Bears. Stone scored with five minutes remaining on an assist by junior Abby Turnier, while the Bears handled two goals, making the final score 12-7.

“The hustle and effort [is what I’m proud of],” McQuade said. ”We weren’t expecting this kind of game. They pushed us, so we just pushed back.”

Starr’s Mill hosts the winner of Walker and Lovett on April 27.
