Before Jeff Holmes took the vacant job position, he worked at the Fayette County sheriff’s office as a detention officer. Holmes started working at Starr’s Mill on Jan. 6, 2014.

I have enjoyed working to assist and support the mission of the sheriff’s office to provide a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty and staff,” Holmes said. “I have fallen in love with the South Complex; and I regard all of the children as my own.”

Holmes currently operates his own business, Holmes, Smith & Associates LLC. “The job at Starr’s Mill filled a business need for health insurance benefits, and the campus security component of the job seemed a logical match.

Holmes says that he faces no major challenges. He says he has it all under control. “Parking Lot Attendant is only the job title that I have, but that’s not what I actually do,” Holmes said. “Matter of fact, I honestly don’t even know what a parking lot attendant is. All I know for sure is that I ensure the safety of the student body externally.” He considers himself a private security consultant.

Holmes said that his overall experience is amazing, mostly because of the “generous and kind student body of Starr’s Mill High School.”
