"When I'm sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court] and I say, 'When there are nine,' people are shocked. But there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that.” ―Ruth Bader Ginsburg. On Sept. 18, Ginsburg, the second woman ever appointed to the Supreme Court, passed away at the age of 87 after complications with pancreatic cancer. Ginsburg’s family was with her in her Washington home at the time of her passing. She was an icon for justice and a role model for young women all over the nation.
