Following the Georgia Bulldogs’ double overtime victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Rose Bowl, the fans of the first viral video called Jon Gloer and his wife to pull out their microphone and let their neighbors know about the thrilling win.

On New Year’s Day, the Dawgs won in historic fashion as they completed the biggest comeback in Rose Bowl history. Late in the second quarter, the Sooners held a 17 point lead, a deficit no team had ever been able to come back from in the history of the “Granddaddy” of all bowls.

True freshman quarterback Jake Fromm and the running back duo of seniors Nick Chubb and Sony Michel led Georgia in this unprecedented comeback. Chubb and Michel combined for 326 yards, six touchdowns, and in the process became the leading rushing duo in FBS history with 8,259 yards.

“It was the best college game that I have ever seen,” said Gloer. “It was highly entertaining and brought you to the edge of your seat.”

On Monday night after the Dawgs’ win, Gloer stood in his driveway for the second time. He was wearing his second grade Georgia helmet and held a microphone in his hand. For 40 seconds, he announced his satisfaction of the Georgia victory. As another reminder of the UGA win, Gloer wanted to allow his neighbors to know that the Dawgs won and will play for the NCAA National Championship for the first time since 1980.

After scoring 24-straight points Georgia took their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter.  That’s when Gloer and his wife started receiving messages about doing another video. Thinking he might get the same response as his first video, Gloer’s wife persuaded him to make a second, 40-second long video.

“When you do something like that, you do not think you are going to get the same response you got the first time,” Gloer said. “We were mistaken. Social media took the rest.”

The first video posted received harsh and threatening comments from the people who did not know Gloer personally. However, friends and family supported and even encouraged the second video.

“A lot of the people in this country need to have a bit more fun and not take life so seriously,” Gloer said.

Gloer plans to post a third video of himself and his microphone if the Georgia Bulldogs win the next game. The 2018 National Championship will be played between Georgia and the Alabama Crimson Tide on Jan. 8 at 8 p.m.
