PBIS has announced the first Staff Member and Students of the Month for the month of August.
Fellow co-workers M.D. Hallman, Jordan Finch, and Brandi Meeks nominated head counselor Pam Lewis as August’s Staff Member of the Month. She was for her hard work this last month leading the counseling department.
“She is working super-hard to make things better and better in the counseling department,” Meeks said.
Other staff members nominated included math teacher Shannon Bowers, science teachers Christie Leanza and Austin Enriquez, English teachers Terence Fitzgerald and Brandon Kendall, nutrition and wellness teacher Adriah Williams, special education department chair Dr. Luke Hearn, ESOL teacher Courtney Day, and assistant principals Brandi Meeks and Rick Fontaine.
English teacher Bonnie Stanford nominated junior Emily Grodi as August’s Upperclassman of the Month. Grodi was chosen because of the work she puts into being a student-athlete.
“She is a good example of making progress every year,” Stanford said, “[She works] hard on everything she does.”
Other upperclassmen nominated were juniors Art Basha, Sammie Brady, Reese Callaghan, and Isaiah Gadsden, and seniors Lilly Hynson and Sanaya Patel.
Math teacher Dr. Nick Castaga nominated sophomore Maddy Render as August’s Underclassman of the Month. She was chosen by taking initiative on her grades even in the early weeks of the year.
“She’s being proactive,” Castagna said. “She’s struggling and comes in to get help.”
Other underclassmen nominated were freshmen Noah Brantly, Bryce Inagawa, and Gabby Agbewali, and sophomores Lauren Moyer, Max Sullivan, and Alaina Gettinger.
Once a month, science teacher and PBIS coach Samantha Krage sends out a link to the staff so that they can nominate teachers and students on their good mannerism. The PBIS committee, composed of Krage and other staff, vote on Staff Member and Students of the Month.
