PBIS has announced the Staff Member and Students of the Month for October.
Fellow co-workers Nicholas Gillies, Brandi Meeks, and Whitney Shoemaker nominated assistant principal Dr. Nateil Carby as October’s Staff Member of the Month. He was nominated for running the PSAT day even with technical difficulties.
“Dr. Carby worked super hard on the PSAT schedule,” Meeks said. “With our internet issues, he rearranged things and then again when the internet issues were fixed.”
Other staff members nominated were learning specialist Laura Harbin, paraprofessional Sirrell Young, science teachers Jessica Tatum and Samantha Krage, math teacher Erin Badger, history and AP Psychology teacher Sean Hickey, and student success secretary Stacy Nichols.
Math teacher Tony Kleumper nominated senior Alexa Berger as October’s Upperclassman of the Month. Berger was chosen because of her work ethic to make sure she understands the class content.
“She strives to understand and get mastery of all the topics,” Kleumper said.
Other upperclassmen nominated were junior Ari Huntington and seniors Parker Gates, Israel Gedeon, and Crista Alarcon-Suarez.
Early childhood care and education teacher nominated freshman Ashley Black as October’s Underclassman of the Month. Black was chosen because of helping others when she was not expected to.
“She picked up jobs that other students didn’t want to do,” Via said. “She helped clean and helped deal with kids that were having a moment.”
Other underclassmen nominated were freshmen Ava Williams, Lucas Buck, Peyton Johnson, Andrew Sexton, and Bryson Tims and sophomore Trevor Mink.
Once a month, science teacher and PBIS coach Samantha Krage sends out a link to the staff so that they can nominate teachers and students on their good mannerism. The PBIS committee, composed of Krage and other staff, vote on Staff Member and Students of the Month.
