PBIS has announced the Staff Member and Students of the Month for February.
Fellow co-worker Jordan Finch nominated assistance principal Dr. Nateil Carby as Staff Member of the Month making it his second recognition after winning last October. He was nominated for going above and beyond for all the staff and students and working hard to make sure everyone gets the support they need.
“I nominated Dr. Carby because of how respectful and kind he is to everyone,” Finch said. “I feel very lucky to partner with him in supporting our students.”
Other staff members nominated were English teachers Whitney Shoemaker and Katie Tucker, engineering teacher Rob Bell, special education teacher Rosann Patterson, paraprofessional Eli Garcia, and athletics secretary Laura Leigh French.
Speech-language pathologist Shannon Gagliano nominated junior Reese Monihan as February’s Upperclassmen of the Month. She was chosen for her hard work and dedication to the PALS club within her leadership role this year.
“She has a true heart for students with disabilities, and she is one leader that I have that I can count on to be there,” Gagliano said.
Other upperclassmen nominated were seniors Samya Barber and Graceyn Burgess.
Special Education teacher Laura Harbin nominated freshman Bryson Tims as February’s Underclassmen of the Month. He was chosen for working hard to overcome challenges this year and keeping himself accountable and respectful when asking for help.
“What sets him apart is his unwavering commitment to holding himself accountable,” Harbin said. “He takes ownership of his actions and his growth, ensuring that he remains focused on his goals regardless of external circumstances.”
Other underclassmen nominated were freshmen Nolan McPeters, Claire Simmons, and Jamonte Robinson as well as sophomores Nana Yaa Osei-Banie and Gracie Collins.
Once a month, science teacher and PBIS coach Samantha Krage sends out a link to the staff so that they can nominate teachers and students on their good mannerism. The PBIS committee, composed of Krage and other staff, vote on Staff Member and Students of the Month.
