Sophomore Bella Scott is currently reading “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis.

“I like the plot and I like the writing style of Lewis,” Scott said. “It is really interesting to read.”
“The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” is a novel that follows four siblings, Peter, Edmund, Lucy, and Susan, who are forced to leave their home during World War II. During their evacuation, they uncover a magical land, Narnia, through a portal in a wardrobe. They find out that the beautiful land is under the spell of the White Witch, so they team up with the Beavers and Aslan, a noble lion, to defeat her.
“I have heard a lot about ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ series, and I started it, but I have never followed through,” Scott said. “So now I am following through.”
C.S. Lewis, best known for his series “The Chronicles of Narnia,” is also known for his work as a Christian apologist. Lewis lived to be 64 years old, and in his lifetime, set out to prove Christianity wrong. However, in his research he ended up finding more evidence of truth rather than anything false, and became a Christian himself.
“I would recommend the other books in this series, and also the C.S. Lewis nonfiction books like ‘Mere Christianity’ and ‘A Grief Observed’,” Scott said.
“The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” showcases the brilliant theme of the battle between good and evil, along with sacrifice and redemption. Lewis also highlights the importance of courage, forgiveness, and faith in order to triumph over the evil one might face.
