Senior Rachel recently watched the 2023 movie “Saltburn.” The film follows Oliver and his obsession with his classmate Felix, where his lies and impulses cause many problems in Felix’s life.

Senior Rachel Harville recently watched the movie “Saltburn.”

Saltburn follows Oliver, played by Barry Keoghan, spiraling into his obsession with Felix, played by Jacob Elordi. Oliver gives him a fake tragic story to get into the good graces of Felix and get invited to his estate, so his dreams are able to come to fruition. After being invited Oliver’s impulses cause him to do many things, and inevitably being completely denied by Felix.

What did you enjoy about the movie?

“I really loved the literary allusions to the minotaur,” Harville said.

What motivated you to watch the movie?

“All of the TikToks I saw on my “For You” page, where people were walking out and saying you should never watch that movie,” Harville said. 

What was the most memorable part of the movie?

“The scene after Felix has passed away,” Harville said.

How is this film different from others you have watched?

“It’s less gorey and more psychological,” Harville said.

What other films similar to this would you recommend?

“I would recommend ‘Shape of Water’,” Harville said.
